It's funny how it's easier to hold on but hard to let go.

Be real...

Selah : Holy Pause

Sharing what I learned from church is so refreshing... So hello there my dearest blog readers, Im hoping I can share what I understand during the worship service to you all.

So the topic is about Selah : Holy Pause, how we will have a good relationship to God if we don't know how to make the right time to pause, and pay attention to Him. From the handout that our church handed us for this message,

This busy-ness posts a danger in our growing intimacy with God as followers of Christ. We may find ourselves just like Martha who was worried and bothered with so man thing. It is time to step back and pause to choose the right thing that which Mary has chosen, to sit at the feet of Jesus to listen to Him attentively. [Read Luke 10:39-42]

As a human, oftentimes we get so busy doing different tasks to other, and we got ourselves becoming demanding, irritable, frustrated, impatient and other negative moods. We are so busy doing things that might lead us to have less intimacy with God. Why don't we try to hear God's words more, and let the intimacy grow with Him, and for sure we will begin to focus on our cares, ourselves and others.....

From Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth, author Richard Foster made this significant observation:

In contemporary society our Adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry, and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in “much-ness” and “manyness,” he will rest satisfied

Selah is a Hebrew word in the bible that essentially means a holy pause in order to pay attention. In Psalms, it signals people to stop singing but keep the music going so they could reflect on what the have just sung.
